The word o’ the day is Decide.
It’s easy to stop making decisions about things we really should be making conscious decisions about. We get caught up in the minutia of everyday life, and those bigger decisions are just too overwhelming to even begin entertaining.
It’s easy to get caught up in the self talk, too. Sometimes we think, “Oh, I’ll do that when…” or “I’m too old to…” or “If I were younger…” or “Later when the kids…”
But here’s the thing…life is short and none of us know how much time we have here. How do you want to spend it? You don’t need more time, sister. You just need to decide.
Decide what?
Is this the life you want to live?
That’s pretty broad when you really get down to it. But is it? Are you content? Really? Is the work you do meaningful to you? Are the day to day activities that you are part of enriching you? Are you able to take away as much as you give? At the end of the day, do you fall into bed exhausted but happy and feeling fulfilled or do you feel empty and like you’re gasping for breath?
Is this the person you want to love?
Many times we jump to the “obvious” answer of “of course!” Give your relationship the respect that it and YOU deserve. Is this the person you want to love? Can you see yourself doing this thing called life with this person for another 20 years? 10? Five? One? If it is, that person and the relationship you share is worth more than just an “of course!” If, upon honest reflection, though, this person and the relationship you share is not what you want, well, it’s worth more than just an “of course!”, too.
Is this the best you can be?
There is ALWAYS room for improvement. If we’re not moving forward in some way, we’re either moving backward or we’re stagnating. So, can you be stronger, kinder, more compassionate? Can you be ___(fill in the blank)___? You’re damn right, you can!
LIFE is made of decisions, and they come in all sizes. Some are easy; some are harder. Some you can do on your own. Some require the support of another warrior sister. Some require a tribe. All of them are worth it. Breathe in and breathe out, girlfriend. And decide.
